The average age of Sardinians who apply for a mortgage to buy a house is decreasing. According to the latest figures, it is now 38 and a half years old, up from 42 a year ago.

The first house today is bought, on average, at 36 and a half years (in the first quarter of 2021 they were 40). And if, at the regional level, those who apply for a loan have tried to obtain 123,057 euros on average (an increase of 3.5 compared to last year), at the provincial level the area that recorded the most important increase is that of Sassari (+ 11.6%, 127,619 euros); followed by Oristano (+ 11.1%, 107,959 euros), Cagliari (-0.2%, 126,235 euros) and South Sardinia with -9.1% (106,153 euros).

Always evaluating the whole of Sardinia, according to the analysis by Facile.it and Mutui.it referring to the first quarter of 2022, the request for mortgages for the purchase of the first home returns to grow: 73% of the loan applications collected this purpose was linked online on the island, up by 18 percentage points compared to last year. Finally, as regards interest rates , there is an increase in fixed rates: today, according to the simulations of Facile.it, an average mortgage can cost 12,300 euros more than twelve months ago.
