«Ita and Volotea immediately followed up on our requests, planning new flights and new frequencies for Christmas, in particular from Olbia airport to Linate and Cagliari to Fiumicino. We will continue in this action to raise awareness towards the companies so that immediate answers are given to the needs of Sardinia , especially at this particular time of the year".

This was stated by the regional councilor for Transport, Antonio Moro , who met the trade unions this morning in the offices of the council to take stock of territorial continuity.

In detail, Ita will add frequencies for Christmas Eve, 24 December, on the route from Cagliari Elmas to Milan Linate , while Volotea has decided to increase the coverage of the days between Christmas and New Year, adding more frequencies on 26, 27, 28 , 29 and 30 December towards Rome Fiumicino . In these days the carriers will complete the plans, sharing the options with the Region, and taking stock of the request for mobility to and from the Island.
«With today's meeting – underlines the exponent of the Giunta Solinas – we are relaunching a unitary mobilization so that the right of Sardinians to mobility in Italy and in Europe is reaffirmed . With all the social, political and productive forces of the island we want to share a path that first of all provides for the safety of the air transport system, with the tender that will end at the end of the month, and immediately after the reopening of a confrontation that it will serve to identify the best model of territorial continuity capable of satisfying the needs of Sardinian citizens for the future, in compliance with the Community rules. In any case, I believe that at the moment the problems with the European Union are not of a technical nature but of a purely political nature. This is why it is precisely from politics that we need to start again to call the Sardinians to unity, to defend and reaffirm a fundamental right for the island".
