Clash between the Brothers of Italy and the League over arms to Ukraine .
The Northern League's number 2 Andrea Crippa responded to yesterday's words from Giorgia Meloni, who on the sidelines of the NATO summit said she was "proud of the support for Kiev".
“From my point of view, missiles kill people, I am against ensuring that more and more soldiers die in Ukraine and Russia,” he said, commenting on the prime minister's words. «I am against sending any type of weapons to Ukraine because I am in favor of a negotiation process that must have peace as its sole aim. As long as we send weapons it is clear that we are fueling wars ; and as long as we fuel wars we contribute to the death of people in both Russia and Ukraine."
«I was in Ukraine a year ago with the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Chamber, where the war is fought, and the civilians do not want to die, they would like peace and to go back to work – he added -. International organizations, NATO, the EU and the UN, should favor a peace process. Starting from the assumption that Ukraine was attacked and Russia attacked, but we must put an end to this war, try to ensure that politics and diplomacy prevail over weapons, missiles and planes . It seems to me that at the moment there are continuous shipments of weapons that cause deaths and there are no negotiating tables to bring peace to Ukraine and Russia."
Yesterday Giorgia Meloni had also somewhat criticized Matteo Salvini: «We in Ukraine have focused on air defense systems, which is the best way to defend an attacked nation. I also say this to those who on various sides say that if we continue to send weapons to Ukraine we will fuel the war (as Salvini also said, ed.). It also depends on what you send, because if we hadn't sent the anti-aircraft defense systems the missiles would have gone off anyway, hitting many more people, as we saw a few days ago in the Kiev hospital ."
The prime minister had also claimed the "compactness" of the coalition on the issue, but a reply from the number 2 of the League arrived shortly after, confirming the friction.
