The mayor's (almost) end-of-term assessment: "Our civic movement is open to expansion."Video di Federica Lai
A final assessment of the major projects underway and yet to be completed, from the Fornaci Picci factory to the Distillerie Capra, to the civic market and the student housing project on Via Cilea. Quartu Mayor Graziano Milia took stock and looked to the future during a public meeting held this morning at the Hotel Califfo, on the Quartu coast.
Many topics were discussed, from tourism to urban planning, but regional healthcare was also discussed. And finally, next year's local elections: "This experience must continue, with the same civic profile. We are open to openness, but the same rules will apply as five years ago." There has been no official announcement regarding his re-election as mayor, although—between the circumlocutions and quotes—it's clear: "Rinascita Quartu will decide."
The packed hall was filled with supporters, activists, and numerous politicians, both local and otherwise. From Luca Caschili, chief of staff to regional governor Alessandra Todde, to the president of the Regional Council , Piero Comandini, but also Industry Councilor Emanuele Cani, Cagliari Mayor Massimo Zedda, Luciano Uras, and Democratic Party representative Roberto Deriu, to name a few. Representatives of the Democratic Party, progressives, and the island's center-left were also present.
Also present were current minority councilors, from Tonio Pani and Romina Angius of the Civic Pole to Francesco Piludu of Cambiamo Quartu. And, of course, the current Milia Council and the entire majority.
