Mid-August very salty for Sardinians. A particularly expensive lunch, says Adiconsum Sardegna, which calculates the repercussions for the families of the island on the basis of the latest data on prices released by Istat.

Compared to a year ago, explains the president Giorgio Vargiu, "food products cost an average of 11.5% more in the region, drinks 12.2%".

The accounts for those who dine at home are quickly done: assuming a lunch for 8 people, they will spend 18 to 20 euros more per family than in 2022. And it won't go any better for those who decide to spend 15 August at a restaurant, the increase average of the menus is 5.3%, with peaks of 8.5% in Olbia.

Do you travel by car? This too will be more expensive: based on the prices updated to 12 August, petrol in served mode reaches peaks of 2.369 euros per liter in Cagliari, diesel 2.339. In Olbia respectively 2.349 and 2.249, high prices also in Arbus, 2.222 and 2.122.

«The summer price increases are continuing unabated in Sardinia, and will make holidays on the island a real drain, driving away the tourists who will opt for cheaper destinations – adds Vargiu -. A situation aggravated by the phenomenon of expensive flights, with airfares for Sardinia which are now completely out of control".
