Michele Orecchioni is the new president of Cia Sardegna. He was elected by the regional assembly of the Italian Farmers' Confederation, in the presence of Cristiano Fini , national president. Orecchioni succeeds Francesco Erbì.

The assembly discussed the main emergencies impacting the island's agricultural sector. "The structural difficulties of the sector and the entire economic and social fabric of Sardinia," a press release states, "are compounded by the challenges generated by national and international dynamics. First and foremost, the ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, which have led to uncontrolled increases in the prices of diesel, energy, fertilizers, transportation, and raw materials in general." The crisis in Sardinia affects every sector: from pork to sheep and goat, from beef to cereals, from fruit and vegetables to wine, "no one is immune or excluded."

During the Assembly, coordinated by the regional director, Alessandro Vacca , the new governing bodies of the CIA in Sardinia and the delegates who will participate in the National Assembly were also elected. Orecchioni's election concludes a process of renewal of territorial representatives, which in recent days saw the inauguration of the presidents of Northern Sardinia, Antonio Satta, and Southern Sardinia, Fernando Atzeni .
