Less than two weeks after the World Cup final, Lionel Messi returned to the pitch to play in Major League Soccer, coming on as a second-half substitute in Inter Miami's 2-2 draw against Columbus Crew.

While many of his teammates from Argentina and other national teams are still on holiday, the Rosario-born champion has regularly clocked in, even if he failed to celebrate his return with a goal, wasting two good chances.

The result ended Miami's six-game winning streak, keeping them in second place in the Eastern Conference, while in the West Los Angeles FC and Vancouver Whitecaps remain tied at the top of the table.
