Sustainability, safety and innovation.

Merlata Bloom Milano also bears the signature of Sardinia, the lifestyle center - located in the north-west quadrant of the Lombardy capital - part of the largest urban transformation project in Italy.

Inaugurated today in the presence of authorities and hundreds of journalists , the super mall was developed by the Merlata Mall company, of which Sergio Zuncheddu, publisher of the L'Unione Sarda Group, is president and CEO . With a "green" architecture, characterized by glass and wood to offset emissions, the super mall is immersed in 30 hectares of park, with 5,000 m2 of internal and external green areas . It houses over 210 shops and 43 restaurants, including an Esselunga superstore, a two-storey Decathlon store and a latest generation multiplex cinema under the Notorious Cinemas brand.

Positioned between the UpTown residential district of Cascina Merlata and the MIND innovation district, Merlata Bloom is above all a response to the great challenge of the post Expo 2015 , i.e. redevelopment in the former areas of the Universal Exhibition. Not only will it bring services and entertainment to the first residents of the new district, around 7,000 people, but at full capacity it will create up to 2,000 new jobs.

A «virtuous example of public-private integration», as recalled by the governor of the Lombardy Region Attilio Fontana , and «a model of positive collaboration for the entire country», as underlined in the message sent by the Minister for Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso , who also wanted to remember the importance of a project born in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, and which "had the courage to look to the future with confidence".

Lots of Sardinia at the ribbon cutting, starting with Sergio Zuncheddu. Keywords: eco-sustainability and safe construction sites . «We are below the consumption curve established by the European Commission between now and 2050 – specified Zuncheddu – in the awareness that we live on a fragile planet that must be self-sufficient». More than 700 workers were employed in the construction phases, and over 3,000 in the set-up phases . Great attention to people starting, precisely, from the construction site, «which has never stopped despite the increase in costs and the difficulties of the international scenario - the words of Zuncheddu - and which, with its kilometer in length, represented a of the largest private shipyards in Europe."

All with an eye to sustainability, thanks to the design of CallisonRTKL (CRTKL). The analysis conducted by an independent study has shown that the structure is aligned with the principles defined by the European DNSH taxonomy (Do No Significant Harm, "Do not cause significant harm to the environment"), currently the main European reference that defines in a manner complete and rigorous principles to follow to ensure the sustainability of investments.

The mall limits its CO2 emissions, respects and safeguards water resources and minimizes air pollution. According to an estimate, approximately 9,400 tonnes of CO2 will be saved between now and 2050 compared to the limits imposed by the 2015 Paris Agreement. Not only that: a roadmap has been identified that defines the next steps to ensure the achievement of the Net Zero Carbon objective by 2050.

The project is managed by the company Merlata Mall SpA, co-financed by Ceetrus, ImmobiliarEuropea and SAL Service. Merlata Bloom Milano is managed and marketed by Nhood Services Italy since the design phase.
