The La7 network has issued a company statement to try to make peace between Enrico Mentana and Lilli Gruber, the two leading journalists of the network, after the back and forth to the poison of the last few days.

An official note where the publisher invites the contenders to calm down, with the aim of restoring, at least in appearance, serenity between the two most well-known faces of the broadcaster.

What triggered the controversy, as will be remembered, was Gruber's "jab" towards her colleague, defined as "incontinent" for having extended the La 7 news program by about a quarter of an hour, to the detriment of her program, "Otto e mezzo ”.

Mentana's response was ready, first on social media and then during the following newscast, where he asked for a position from the company led by Urbano Cairo, threatening, if it didn't happen, to "draw the consequences".

And in the end the company spoke out: «La7 is achieving excellent results – we read in the La 7 press release – thanks to everyone's contribution and precious team work. This is why it is essential that mutual respect never fails. Just as it is fundamental that there is no lack of respect for a company that has freedom of expression and the responsible autonomy of its presenters and journalists among its founding values."

"I subscribe" was Mentana's laconic comment on social media. Ditto Lilli Gruber «I have shared the line and rules of my company for sixteen years».

Case closed? It seems so, at least for now.
