In Sardinia, the prevalence of mental disorders is in the high range of annual prevalence as regards the main mental disorders.

About 6-7% are depressive disorders, about 3-4% bipolar disorders, about 5-6% anxiety disorders, between 2 and 3% for non-affective psychotic disorders (of which 0.5-1% for schizophrenic disorders) and 2-3% for eating disorders.

Mental disorders affect both sexes and all age groups and socioeconomic status. However, some classes of disorders have a higher prevalence in women, such as most forms of depression and anxiety, with an average ratio of 2: 1 compared to men and eating disorders / ratio about 10: 1.

World Mental Health Day is celebrated on 10 October , an opportunity to increase and emphasize the importance of constant commitment to providing more information, training and support to both patients and the community.

The talk “15 minutes with…” is edited by Aou Cagliari News, the newspaper of the university hospital. Agile and simple format, it includes 15 minutes of question and answer with the specialists and the possibility for the public to ask questions live.
