We should put ourselves in the mayors' shoes, for once. They're the lightning rod for every protest, including the tourist medical services that remained closed almost everywhere this summer.
"We're talking about one less service, for those who come to us for vacation and for those who live here year-round," say the mayors. But we should also put ourselves in the shoes of the doctors, especially the young ones, "who are asked to provide first aid without, often, access to basic equipment," observe the Association of Free Specialists.
The average wages for a tourist medical guard range between thirty and sixty euros for an hour of service (gross figure).
"No one's making it a question of money," is the first point made by the Associazione Liberi Specialzzandi. "Also because if the lack of participation in the regional call for proposals were due to economic reasons, it would be enough to set higher fees."
