"Let's raise the bar." Sassari's mayor, Giuseppe Mascia, presented the New Year's Eve concert this morning at Palazzo Ducale, featuring Max Pezzali in Piazzale Segni.

"We've been saying it since the beginning of our first term," the mayor declared, "that Sassari needed to bring back major concerts, and Pezzali is a top-notch artist. From a political and regional perspective, we now have the opportunity to get back on track and aim high."

The event organizers will be Gian Stefano Murru of Gian Production and Barbara Vargiu, president of the Le Ragazze Terribili cooperative, appointed by the Vivo Concerti agency at the request of the municipal administration.

"We contacted Pezzali in August and signed only yesterday," says Culture Councilor Nicoletta Puggioni. "Bringing in an artist of this caliber, fifth in Italy in ticket sales and capable of filling stadiums with 120,000 paying spectators, wasn't easy."

The concert's capacity is 20,000, while Pezzali's booking, largely covered by the Region through the Grandi Eventi call for proposals, is €350,000. The singer-songwriter will perform for approximately 90 minutes.

"This will be a significant organizational undertaking, with positive impacts for local workers," Murru emphasizes.

"It's a major event, both regionally and nationally, one of the most interesting in recent decades," adds Vargiu.

The various municipal departments are working tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of the concert, from security to traffic and local police. 120 security personnel and 40 first responders will be deployed.

The evening will be hosted by Laura Calvia and Daniele Coni, aka Bobò Scianèl, while the post-Pezzali event will be hosted by Sergione DJ and the young Gabry DJ, 18 years old.
