Matteo Trullu is a Junior in the European music scene. After winning the latest edition of The Voice Kids, the 13-year-old multi-instrumentalist from Decimomannu is ready to make the leap: with the song "Che cos'è l'amore?" he will represent Italy at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the European event for young singers scheduled for October 24th in Malta. Confirmation comes from RAI, which once again chooses The Voice Kids as a platform to discover its talent.

Music entered his life almost like a game, as he explained in the Radiolina studios as a guest on "Sala Prove." As a child, he sang Zecchino d'Oro songs with his mother and was selected as a finalist in the regional auditions. At the age of four, he took his first steps on stage with the Piccolo Coro di San Sperate. A huge fan of Europe and Twisted Sister, he fell in love with the electric guitar at the age of six and began studying with maestro Francesco Congia. At eleven, he learned to play piano and drums, and soon moved from children's songs to rock, eventually measuring himself against the genius of Jimi Hendrix and Queen.

Competitions were the next step, and his medal haul is impressive: two wins at the Galtellì Song Festival, in 2023 and 2024, first place at the Stintino Guitar Contest and the “Note in Radio” Festival in Ascoli Piceno, as well as the final of Sanremo Junior in 2024. In 2025, he won the “Fuoriclasse Talent,” a national competition with over 5,000 entrants , which allowed him to gain recognition among industry insiders and land him in the castings for The Voice Kids . In February 2026, as part of Nek's team, after enchanting with great rock classics, he won the title with “Maniac” by Michael Sembello, the soundtrack to the 1983 film Flashdance, playing his inseparable electric guitar in the famous solo.

He has shared the stage with artists such as Silvia Mezzanotte, Omar Pedrini, Rocco Hunt, Samurai Jay and Le One, but Matteo remains down to earth and, head down, continues to study: at school he attends the music program at the Nivola Institute, and at the Cagliari Conservatory he deepens and specializes in pop rock guitar.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be held on Saturday, October 24, at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta' Qali, featuring young artists from several countries. This will be Italy's twelfth participation in the contest: its debut in 2014 also coincided with its only Italian victory, that of Vincenzo Cantiello with "Tu primo grande amore." Last year, Italy was represented by Leonardo Giovannangeli, a finalist on The Voice Kids 2024, with "Rockstar." The winner, however, was Lou Deleuze, representing France with "Ce monde."
