"President Mattarella has appointed Renzo Arbore a Knight of the Grand Cross of Merit of the Italian Republic". This was announced by the Quirinale on Twitter.
For the Apulian artist, born in 1937, this is the second honor obtained by the President of the Republic: in 1992 he was in fact awarded the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
In addition to having brought prestige to Italy with his activities as a singer, musician, as well as actor and director, Arbore has been involved in social work for years, with his activity in favor of the Lega del Filo d'Oro, an association committed to assisting deafblind people.
