After five years of romance, the love story between former minister and Italia Viva MP Maria Elena Boschi and actor Giulio Berruti appears to be coming to an end.

The indiscretion comes from Dagospia: the two hadn't been seen together often for a while.

Politics, Boschi said two years ago in an interview with the weekly magazine "7," had taken a lot from her "in terms of her private life, especially during her time in government." With Berruti, she said, "We met by chance almost 10 years ago: I was entering the Auditorium in Rome. One look, and there was a spark. But I was surrounded by security. We met again years later in the Quirinale gardens: we talked, and he asked for my phone number, but I didn't give it to him: 'You'll find a way.' The next day he sent me a beautiful bouquet of flowers to Palazzo Chigi, with his phone number. I thanked him after two months. But he was engaged."

"Maria Elena is an extraordinary person, for whom I have immense respect," he said before appearing on Pechino Express. "She always supports me, in all my decisions, including this one, even though I didn't know when I'd be back. She told me: 'Don't worry, I'm here.' And, indeed, I found her right where I left her. She is a great gift that life has given me. We've been together for five years and we are very close."
