Mare Llengua Festival: Agathe Catel Wins First Edition

Montpellier singer-songwriter Agathe Catel is the winner of the first edition of the Mare Llengua Festival .
With the song in Catalan “Només” , she won over the jury and the public, winning the prize that will be awarded to her on Saturday 18 October at the Teatro Civico in Alghero, during an evening that promises to be full of music and international guests, in the name of European singer-songwriter.
The winner will be joined on stage by the Corsican-Provençal duo Liame (Liza L'Occitane and Lionel Giacomini), Barcelona-based singer-songwriter Rusò Sala, Valencian Joan Aznar, and Italians Silvia Pilia, Noemi Balloi, Elisa Carta, and Federico Perantoni Marras. The guest of honor will be Setak, winner of the 2024 Targa Tenco Award for best album in dialect. The jury also awarded the Pino Piras Prize, dedicated to Catalan songwriting from Alghero, to the group Arbre del Peix with the song "És llumera o és alba." The Alghero indie-rock band, Andrea Donapai, Michelangelo Corbia, Ignazio Caruso, Sergio Intelisano, and Angelo Salaris, will perform on Sunday evening in an evening dedicated to Alghero song, with many guest artists, including Enrico Ceravola, Stefano Pinna, Gabriella Caria, Anna Maria Multineddu, Vittoria Lacana, Claudia Crabuzza, and Joan Aznar. During the evening, Paola Mura will be honored for her commitment to the Alghero language. The festival will open tonight, Friday, October 17, with a free evening featuring Claudia Crabuzza, Dilva Foddai, Giorgia Gungui, Andrea Andrillo, and the Bumbe Orchestra, along with the screening of the short films "Nodas. Launeddas in tempus de crisi" and "Un gramme de terre au jardins de Francis." Tickets for the Festival are on sale at the Teatro Civico box office from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM (free admission for the opening night).
