Triumphal afternoon for Silì's jockey Marco Ghiani, who in Ascot, the temple of English gallop, was crowned winner of the Apprentice Jockeys Championship of flat racing. The British public paid tribute to the champion of jockeys who closed the ranking with 51 wins ahead of Saffie Osborne's 35. Third place for another Sardinian jockey, Stefano Cherchi from Sassari.

A truly sensational success that of the twenty-two year old Ghiani. Suffice it to say that so far only one other Italian had managed to win the championship back in 1989: the formidable Frankie Dettori, son of Gianfranco - another top jockey - from Serramanna.

And Marco Ghiani was compared to the champion nicknamed "the King".

In Ascot they learned to admire Marco Ghiani already in June, when on Real Wolrd he won the Royal Hunt Cup, one of the Royal Ascot races, the most elegant and famous five days of gallop not only in Britain but internationally.
