After the forced stop due to the pandemic, the food education campaign "#Mandigos - Sardinia on the table" has restarted, aimed at students of all Sardinian schools, teachers, parents and school canteen operators.

The second phase concerns middle and high school children.

The campaign is financed by the Region, Department of Agriculture and Agro-Pastoral Reform, and is carried out by the Laore Sardegna Agency in collaboration with the Regional School Office, with the regional PDO and PGI protection consortia and trade associations.

THE PROJECT - Almost a thousand students have been taking part in the Mandigos workshops since last December with the opportunity to taste and touch traditional foods. According to the program, the meetings will end in mid-March.

To be exact, 950 pupils belonging to 62 classes of middle and high schools who joined throughout the island were involved in this phase. The activities will continue in the spring with the girls and boys of the 35 primary schools in Sardinia involved in the project.

The program includes two hours of laboratory in which an expert describes the quality products to the students, the branded products (DOP, DOC, IGP, PAT and Organic of Sardinia), illustrates their organoleptic and nutritional characteristics and then moves on to the analysis sensory. All five senses are involved to discover and recognize the product being analyzed, and the laboratory ends with the tasting of the products prepared for the occasion.
