A normal workday ended in tragedy. Giancarlo Mereu , a 50-year-old from Pula, was found dead Friday evening inside a greenhouse at the floriculture company where he worked.

According to initial evidence, the man may have been struck by a sudden illness while still at work. However, the autopsy, ordered by prosecutor Mario Leo and to be performed tomorrow by coroner Patrizio Porru, will definitively clarify the cause of death and reconstruct the final moments before his death.

The company owner was the first to raise the alarm. Mereu's bicycle was still parked near the premises around 5:00 PM, an unusual time and well after the end of the work shift.
