Mahmood sings with the flag of the Quattro Mori at Alcatraz in Milan , in one of the first post Eurovision Song Contest concerts.

And not just any song, but "I love you" , a song that he dedicated to his mother, Anna Frau , and which represents his strong bond with Sardinia .

That's why, when someone from the audience handed him the Sardinian flag at Alcatraz, he didn't hesitate to take it, wrap it around the microphone and sing the whole song with its usual intensity, a hymn to love for his Sardinian half .

Born in Milan almost thirty years ago, on 12 September 1992, Mahmood also lived for long periods on the island and precisely in Orosei , his mother's hometown . It is there that he wrote many pieces of his repertoire. Even the stanzas of “Broglie”, the song that won Sanremo and brought Blanco to Eurovision in Turin last week, winning a sixth place.

"When I made my mom feel Chills for the first time - she explained - she told me that it arrived immediately , unlike the others who required some more listening". The mother knew immediately that this song was going to be a big hit.

Anna Frau , Mahmood often said, raised him alone , becoming his mother and father. The Egyptian father left them when he was still small: an experience that inspired him "Soldi", the song with which he triumphed at his first Sanremo and which came second at Eurovision in 2019.
