A series of references , in his most successful songs such as "Soldi" and "Gioventù Bruta", to the difficult relationship with his father , who left home when he was just 5 years old. Alessandro Mahmoud, Mahmood for the world, has chosen to tell through music and words that conflicted relationship with his father Ahmed Mahmoud , who however today is not there and, in an interview with QN, tries to defend himself .

"It is true that I have rebuilt my life but I have never abandoned Alessandro : there are photos of the two of us in the park, on vacation, on various occasions, even in Egypt," he explains. «We went out to eat together, he even came to my house when I lived in Trezzano sul Naviglio, he took his little sister in his arms (whom I had from another woman) who is now 11 and a half years old – he continues – The week before he took part in the Sanremo Festival we went for an aperitif together. I didn't know he was going to Sanremo or that I had inspired his songs . Even though we didn't see each other often, the relationship never broke down and I never imagined he could talk about abandonment ".

«I suffered – continues Mahmoud – as I suffered hearing “Soldi” . It's not true that I was only thinking about money, on the contrary. As if you are only interested in material things. I have always wanted to talk to my son and I consider myself an open-minded man : as a Muslim I accepted all the Catholic rites in my first family. I was hospitalized with a bad illness, first at San Paolo hospital and then in Egypt during the Covid period. Alessandro knew it, I asked him to come and see me but he never came. I was bad at it. The last time we spoke via message more than a year ago, but always superficially ».

Then the closure, with a lunge: «If he really thinks that I have abandoned him and he doesn't want to have anything to do with me anymore, I would like him to change his surname : no longer Mahmoud. I don't expect him to change his stage name but his real one ».

Maybe a provocation, but maybe even more: "I tried to ask him but he said no, I'm considering whether to contact a lawyer ".
