Madonna challenges Instagram and re-posts a photo in which she shows a nipple, but this time covered by a heart-shaped emoji.

Thus the pop star responds to the censorship of the post in which she was shown lying on a bed in fishnet stockings and lingerie and with one breast uncovered, violating the rules of Instagram against nudity: "When there is, we eliminate the contents that go against the rules, to regardless of who publishes them ”, explained a spokesperson for Meta to CNN.

Madonna's response goes straight down: "I'm republishing this photo that Instagram removed without warning me," she writes, adding that she still lives in a culture where every part of the female body is exposed except for the nipple. "As if it were the only part of the female anatomy that can be sexualized. The nipple feeds the baby!".

Madonna also points out how the rules are different for men: “Why can they show their nipples? They are not erotic ”. And she adds: "The butt is never censored, thank you for being able to maintain my sanity through four decades of censorship, sexism, age discrimination and misogyny."

According to social media rules, "the expression of nudity or sexual activity is prohibited or restricted because some people may be sensitive to this type of content." Rules that, however, over the years have become more permissive when it comes to posts that show, for example, the nipples of a woman while breastfeeding.

The battle has been going on for years to freely show women's nipples and treat them in the same way as men's. In 2012, the #Freethenipple campaign (for nipple release) was launched with the aim of challenging the general convention that allows men to show themselves shirtless in public while the same behavior is considered indecent or sexual for women. The campaign is supported by celebrities such as Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Scout Willis and Cara Delevingne, among others.
