"Bridges of Ink: Reading to Meet" is the theme of the 24th edition of the book fair in Sardinia, taking place from November 5th to 8th in Macomer, which was presented this morning at a press conference. This exhibition and its theme are reflected in the rich program for everyone, but especially in the children's and youth program.
"This year," says Roberta Balestrucci, coordinator of the exhibition on behalf of the Cultural Services Center, "we will exceed 3,000 students, who will come from all over the island to discover, through different cultural languages, the enormous value of Sardinia, its authors, its talents, its history, without forgetting the major current issues." A large number of Sardinian authors will participate, confirming the organizers' attention to the island's history, culture, and archaeology. They will also be joined by guests from the mainland, presenting books, performances, and opportunities for discussion. Ample space will once again be given to workshops for schools of all levels and a photography exhibition.
Mayor Riccardo Uda: "We are confident that the high quality of the cultural offering will instantly dispel all the criticism that regularly arrives. With this certainty, I wish everyone a successful exhibition and reiterate my thanks to those who work year-round to make the event a success." He was referring to the Sardinian Publishers Association's failure to attend, once again.
Culture Councilor Rita Atzori adds: "We have always opened our doors to everyone through expressions of interest, ensuring participation from both publishers' associations and individuals, with the desire to collaborate with everyone. This is also reflected in this year's theme, "Bridges of Ink: Reading to Meet." We therefore wanted the exhibition to become even more of a space for dialogue through books and reading. The program is broad and varied, with a strong focus on Sardinian authors, while also keeping an open mind on the world."
Giancarlo Zoccheddu, director of the Cultural Services Center: "We've made some very interesting choices, for example, strengthening the role of schools within the exhibition by opening it to all schools in Sardinia." A packed program includes the participation of Marco Buttu, with "My Life in the Antarctic," in a meeting aimed primarily at schools. There will be a creative journey from the Giants of Mont'e Prama to Mickey Mouse (Disney). This will be followed by meetings and concerts at the Costantino Theater, while on Saturday, November 7, the 13th edition of "Sagra de su Piritzolu," curated by the Binzateris association, will take place in the historic center. There will also be a treasure hunt for families and all ages. There's no room for controversy, but a strong desire to promote culture and further enhance Sardinian authors and Sardinia. The Book Fair is organized by the Municipality, with support from the Region and coordination by the Cultural Services Center.
