The traditional masks of Sardinia and those of Trentino paraded along the main street of Macomer yesterday, attracting thousands of people from all over the island. An immense crowd was able to experience an intense evening of carnival traditions .

The town has been invaded by cars, buses, campers, with people also arriving from Cagliari, Sassari, Alghero, Olbia and even from Ogliastra. The event was organized by the Pro Loco, the Esedra cooperative, the Donna Zenobia association and the municipal administration.

«A success - says the mayor Antonio Succu - thanks to the intuition of the organizers, who were able to give the push necessary to restore the role it deserves to the town, maintaining its geographical centrality also from a cultural point of view. Thanks to all".

The demonstration, which started from the historic center (Piazza Santa Croce), traveled along Corso Umberto, the main street of the town, between two wings of enthusiastic crowds . The Krampus of Naturno, arrived from Trentino, the Mamuthones and Issohadores Atzeni Beccoi of Mamoiada, Urthos and Buttudos of Fonni, Sos Tumbarinos of Gavoi, S'attididu of Bosa, Sos Gigantes de Sennaru of Sennori, Sos Traigolzos of Sindia, Sos Corriolos by neoneli, S'Ainu Orriadore by Scano Montiferro and Donna Zenobia by Macomer.

The event, presented by the folk singer Maria Giovanna Cherchi, ended in the large Piazza dei Caduti sul lavoro, where there was a gigantic zeppolata and where people sang and danced until late in the evening, with lots of music.
