Hundreds of visitors to Macomer to see the mushroom showcase and taste the delicacies. Over 300 species are on display, among the most widespread mushrooms on the island, but above all where Her Majesty S'Antunna, the queen of mushrooms, stands out.

The inauguration took place yesterday evening, in front of hundreds of people, the mayor, the municipal administration, the leaders of the Pro Loco, the Esedra cooperative and the Maart association. It is the XXV edition of the Rassegna de S'Antunna and the second edition of the regional mycological exhibition of Sardinia, with a rich display of species from all over the island . Also present were some regional authorities, such as the regional councilor Pierluigi Saiu and the team of mycologists and experts, therefore a scientific team, made up of mycologists also coming from overseas, coordinated by Franco Sotgiu.

A regional and scientific event, aimed at enhancing and raising awareness of the knowledge and collection of the highly prized and much appreciated mushroom, S'Antunna, with the exhibition set up in an important and historic showcase, the former Alas wool factory.

«A fixed appointment to enhance our wealth - says the president of the Pro Loco, Teresa Sulis - but above all the scientific and cultural characterization, which also enhances our territory».

Last night also the thanks of the mayor Riccardo Uda, who together with the representatives of the world of culture (Santa Barbara dance group and the Melchiorre Murenu choir), kicked off the event.

« An exhibition and an important cultural event for our town and for the territory - says the mayor - which takes place in a historic structure, the former Alas industrial plant, which has thus become usable by the community and everyone can benefit from it. Alas as we have never seen it, which now hosts the magical world of mushrooms, but is also a structure that lends itself to all events and is always available to the people."

Meetings and conferences will characterize these two days, but also excursions, coordinated by the Esedra cooperative. The event "The mushroom is served" is eagerly awaited, in the company of chef Pierpaolo Argiolu "Cozzina" with Raimondo Mandis, president of Slow Food Sardinia. Macomer restaurants are involved in the initiative and will delight all palates with their mushroom-based menus.
