Bottling is possible. The territory of Macomer and Marghine is suited to viticulture, that of Vermentino in particular. To say it are the expert oenologists, who have selected the 64 wines, in the first edition of the "I Rossi del Marghine" competition, an event conceived and organized by the cultural association "Binzatteris", with the collaboration of the European school of Sommeliers, of the agency Laore and the patronage of the Municipality, who attended the awards ceremony yesterday.

«In Marghine there are excellent conditions for producing a good wine, therefore raising the average quantity - says Angelo Angioi, expert oenologist - Bottling and entering the market is also possible. This is thanks to the climatic conditions and the temperature range, a typical feature of this area».

An event that has attracted dozens of small producers and wine-growing enthusiasts to Macomer. «We create culture - comments the president of Binzatteris, Alberto Betterell - we want to improve quality, it is not a competition, but a stimulus to improve production».

The mayor Riccardo Uda, present with the councilor for commerce Fabiana Cugusi: «A fundamental initiative to create cohesion and a healthy comparison, important for Macomer».

The jury selected the 64 red wines from the vineyards of Macomer, Bortigali, Borore and Birori. A special form has been drawn up for each one, where the score is given, given by the sum of the values of taste and smell, color and clarity. In each sheet the suggestions to further improve the product.

The winner of the first "I Vini Rossi del Marghine" competition is a winemaker from Bortigali, Paolo Deriu, (who also won the second prize), with his wine produced in the Pedrosu vineyards, in the Bortigali area. The third prize was awarded to Antonio Spanu, also from Bortigali, with his red wine, also from Pedrosu. Angelo Falchi, a Macomer winemaker, received the award for the best wine produced in Macomer, in the Cherchizzu countryside.

Seven wines participating in the competition received a score of more than 80 points and a good 32 had a score of more than 70 points. An important initiative that makes it possible to enhance what is produced in Macomer and Marghine, and to give a new impetus to produce quality, but also quantity, which is important for the local economy.
