A Cinecittà-style scenography, a set for photographers and street art. A do-it-yourself post-industrial museum, between abandonment and art, an explosive combination in the heart of Macchiareddu . Anyone interested in graffiti, murals, photography and urban installations will find a small masterpiece in the former Dicovisa distillery . The factory has been closed since 2002, it is part of the immense industrial cemetery of the industrial area, the bankruptcy trustee sold it to MAVER in 2006, today it is abandoned and transformed into a palette: very high and large decorated artistic walls that transform it into one of the spaces more alternative than Campidano.
THE ARTISTS – In this iron cemetery planted on the ground with tons of reinforced concrete, street artists have left their mark, arousing the admiration of those who contemplate their works and even some complaints. Elio Farci (37 years old from Cagliari) and Samuele Perra (52, originally from Sassari), were acquitted because by violating that private property they did nothing offensive given the state of abandonment. So much so that generations of writers have been painting for years on these large spaces that offer the possibility of adapting one's work of art. All works are highly respected and deal with the typical themes of urban and rebellious art . In the stories the identity of an alternative space on whose facades you can see graffiti with critical, protest and humorous messages that are renewed every year and which are a true reflection of urban artistic trends.
THE GYM – «In these abandoned places - declares Daniele Gregorini (creative director of Urban Center) - in principle, those who paint and work are the writers (those who do lettering creating their own style by writing letters, names or other words) or street artists who produce art and paint regardless of whether their works are commissioned by private individuals or public bodies. He paints for pleasure. In Sardinia there are an infinite number of these abandoned spaces that become gymnasium and “socialization” places, they are not lived in by anyone, except by artists». "This degree of artistic freedom - concludes Gregorini - is linked to our project for the salt gallery in Cagliari between Sant'Elia and Genneruxi".
«I didn't imagine - Enrico Napoleone intervenes, passionate about what today is called "urbex" the exploration of disused and abandoned structures - of finding within that huge industrial plant, such a quantity of artistic works, even of large dimensions and of excellent workmanship made by writers who have made it a unique place. The artistic expression integrates perfectly with the context of industrial archeology. I found the doll, abandoned and dirty in the trash. It seemed to me a perfect protagonist to tell a different point of view of that place with other photos. These gigantic abandoned buildings can have a new life , as places of cultural and artistic expression that can host not only the graphic works of writers, but also photographic, theatrical or musical ones».
