After last Friday's towed outing, the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli prototype carried out the first day of real sailing.

The wind was very weak, around 7 knots , but the boat rose on the foils and flew over the water of the Cagliari sea for a while.

“We checked all the aero part, for the first time we hoisted the sails, calibrated the mast, tuned the hydraulic and electronic system”, explained Gilberto Nobili, who follows the evolution of the team. “We went out towed because the wind was too weak, but once outside we flew and found that everything was working perfectly . We tacked even if the wind was not enough to maneuver, we are very happy, the result is positive ”.

The helmsmen Ruggero Tita and Jimmy Spithill were also satisfied. “Getting aboard the prototype was really nice, the boat is very sensitive to the rudder,” said the Olympian. Spithill speaks of a “great day”, underlining that the boat behaved “very well” and that “in the next few days, with more wind, we will be able to sail normally”.

The team tests will continue in Cagliari .
