Center-left ahead in all 4 provincial capitals in the vote to renew mayors and city councils. Victory in the first round in Genoa and Ravenna, run-offs (with center-left ahead) in Taranto and Matera .

In Genoa, the progressive candidate for mayor Silvia Salis, originally from Sassari, defeated the centre-right candidate for mayor Pietro Piciocchi with 51.7%, with 44% . The candidates Antonella Marras (Alternative Left) and Mattia Crucioli (United for the Constitution) were behind.

Ravenna remains in the centre-left, without the need to go to a run-off: Alessandro Barattoni has 58%, against the 25% of Nicola Grandi (Fdi and Fi) , 6.5% of Alvaro Ancisi and 4.2% of Veronica Verlicchi of the civic list 'La Pigna'.

In Matera , Roberto Cifarelli (leading a reformist coalition) is ahead, with a figure of around 43.5%. Followed by the center-right mayoral candidate Antonio Nicoletti, with 37.5% . Behind, with percentages below 10%, are the other candidates.

Taranto is also heading towards a run-off with the centre-left candidate Pietro Bitetti (37%) in the lead. In second place is the candidate Francesco Tacente (civics supported by the League), who with 25% has overtaken the centre-right candidate Luca Lazzaro who according to him is around 20% of the preferences. Only fourth is the M5S candidate, Annagrazia Angolano.

There are 126 municipalities voting, 31 with a population of over 15,000 inhabitants, including Assisi, Lamezia Terme and Rende. The run-off elections are scheduled for Sunday 8 and Monday 9 June, the days of the referendum on work and citizenship.

The turnout is growing, the final figure stands at 56.29%, in the last administrative elections it was 47.17% .
