Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs closed the indoor 60 meters in second place at the Liévin meeting with a time of 6''57 behind the Kenyan Omanyala (winner of the final in 6''53). Third the Ivorian Cissé.

Instead, Claudio Stecchi's feat in Liévin has the flavor of the feat: Italian indoor record of the auction , equaled with 5.82 (in the first round) the measure of his coach and blue champion Giuseppe Gibilisco after exactly 19 years (15-2- 2004 in Donetsk).

On 60 meters Marcell Jacobs hadn't lost for two years: the last time it happened on February 12, 2021 in Lodz. Since then, with the exception of the false start of the Belgrade 2022 meeting, there have been twenty consecutive victories between heats and finals, including tonight's first round (in 6.64).

In the final, however, Jacobs (Fiamme Oro) has to give way to the Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala who stays ahead of him with a time of 6.53, four hundredths better than his 6.57, the same time as his debut eleven days ago in Lodz. The Tokyo Olympic champion has to settle for second place, ahead of the Ivorian Arthur Cissé (6.59), the Slovak Jan Volko (6.66), the Estonian Karl Eric Nazarov (6.69).

On Sunday, in key European indoor championships in Istanbul, there is immediately the opportunity to get into gear at the Assoluti in Ancona.
