It will be a very expensive summer, the most expensive in recent years.

And among the most expensive places there are also the Sardinian ones, especially in terms of accommodation facilities . The consumer associations are certain of this, which with various studies and researches have drawn up a map of expensive holidays in Italy, analyzing all aspects, from travel to accommodation, from bathing establishments to ice cream.

The first alarm comes from Codacons, which compared the price lists of the beaches, discovering that a station with sunbeds, umbrella, table and deckchair can exceed one thousand euros a day in August . The borderline case concerns Salento where, according to Codacons research, a location with a gazebo, table, sunbeds, beach towels and an aperitif costs €1,010 a day in August, almost twice as much as the "Twiga" in Forte dei Marmi. where an Arab tent costs 600 euros per day.

But in general, explains Codacons, « to rent an umbrella and two sunbeds during the weekend, in an average establishment you spend between 30 and 35 euros per day, average increases of 10/15% throughout Italy with peaks of +25 % compared to last year ».

Considering the cost of renting an umbrella and two sunbeds, drinks at the beaches (sandwiches, water, ice cream, soft drinks, coffee), parking, fuel, « this year a family with two children spends on average between 100 and 110 euros for a day at the beach, with an average burden of +13.4% on 2022 ».

On the accommodation front, the analysis is by Attoutenti: the most expensive rates are found in Sardinia and Sicily, where «for a seven-night stay between 12 and 19 August, a family of four can spend over 20 thousand euros, and certainly not in extra-luxury structures» . The limit price concerns San Teodoro , for the other Sardinian locations instead: Baja Sardinia up to 12 thousand euros, Porto Cervo up to 9 thousand, 6,350 in Golfo Aranci, almost 7 thousand in Villasimius, 6,720 in La Maddalena, 5,307 in Alghero.

Moving chapter. To move by ferry, the same family spends 1,462 euros on the Genoa-Palermo route, 1,331 euros for the Civitavecchia-Olbia connection and 1,030 euros from Livorno to Olbia . But if you choose to fly, the cost drops to 845 euros for the Milan-Brindisi route, 818 euros for the Milan-Palermo line, and 800 euros from Rome to Olbia. In this case, however, it will be necessary to rent a car, a sector where the rates in August start from a minimum of 373 euros per week in Alghero and Brindisi, 402 euros in Olbia.

Finally, the price of ice cream , a survey by Consumerismo No Profit, which reports average increases of 22% . Record price in Florence, 7.93 euros per kilo for a tray (+34% compared to 2022). Prices above 7 euros also in Bolzano, Ravenna and Milan. The cheapest cities with a price of less than 5 euros per kg are Padua (with an average of 4.55 euros), Siena and Vicenza (4.68 euros).
