The Su Palatu Fotografia association, in collaboration with Vigne Surrau, is promoting the public exhibition of a portfolio of photographs from Salvatore Ligios 's archive, recomposed in the prophetic Landscapes and Visions.

In the gallery you can admire a double series of prints: 30 black and white photographs of Sardinian landscapes taken in the late 1990s in dialogue with 22 precious small color prints obtained with an iPhone 4.

Curator Ivo Serafino Fenu writes in the introduction: "Salvatore Ligios's vision of landscape is simultaneously epic, ethical, and aesthetic. Landscape is not understood as a natural fact or a simple view, but as a cultural construction, an aesthetic experience, and an ethical responsibility. The "vision," then, does not coincide with retinal perception but becomes a choice and a stance, transcending the cloying and banalizing cliché of an immutable, pleasant, and picturesque Sardinia. The exhibition at the Galleria Surrau in Arzachena unfolds across two sections, distinct in medium, format, and approach, yet converging in a meditation on the Sardinian territory in its historical evolution and in its most intimate dimension."

During the exhibition, which runs until September 6th , the refined catalogue published by Soter Editrice will be presented to the public at a date to be determined. Subject to availability, the publication, printed in just 100 numbered copies signed by the artist, can be requested by emailing the Su Palatu Fotografia association. The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Salvatore Ligios, born in 1949 in Villanova Monteleone, founded Soter Editrice with two friends (publishing horses, photography, poetry, and art). From 2000 to 2008, he directed Su Palatu, a cultural center dedicated to photography. He has exhibited in Italy and Europe, documenting his shows with accompanying catalogs. With Sonia Borsato, he curated the international festival "Menotrentuno. Young European Photography in Sardinia," 2006-2016. From 2008 to 2015, he taught photography at the Mario Sironi Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari. Since 2011, he has been president of the cultural association Su Palatu Fotografia.

Ivo Serafino Fenu is an art historian and critic. Born in San Vero Milis, he graduated in 1987 with a degree in Literature, specializing in contemporary art, from the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy in Cagliari under the guidance of Salvatore Naitza. In 1992, he specialized in Medieval and Modern Art History at the Graduate School of the University of Rome "La Sapienza" under Corrado Maltese. He has taught Art History at the "Carlo Contini" Art School and the "De Castro" Classical High School in Oristano.
