«As regards the case of Leonardo la Russa, as a mother I understand the suffering of the president of the Senate even if I would not have intervened on the merits of the matter». This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni , in the declarations on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius, regarding the intervention of Ignazio La Russa after the complaint of sexual violence filed by a 22-year-old girl against her son . Intervention in which the president of the Senate explained that he had personally "interrogated" his son about the affair and that he had not identified any crimes, also speaking of "doubts" about the delay with which the alleged victim filed a complaint.

In this regard, "I tend to sympathize by nature with a girl who denounces and I don't ask myself the problem of timing", added the premier.

Meloni also commented on the Santanché case , at the center of controversy over the management of his companies : " A notice of guarantee does not lead to the resignation of a minister , even more so in these ways," said the prime minister.
