On May 17, 1943, British aircraft bombed the city of Alghero on what is known as the night of San Pasquale. The historic center in particular was the hardest hit: over one hundred civilian victims, more than 500 houses destroyed, 2000 damaged. The attack surprised the population in their sleep. It was a tragedy. 80 years later, the Banda Dalerci will remember that sad day by performing a symphonic poem composed by Franco Cano (lyrics) and the director of the city band Antonio Garofalo (music).

La Nit de San Pasqual is the title of the composition with the reciting voice of Professor Enza Castellaccio and the vocal interpretation of Daniele Cambule . The peculiarity of the poem is that the composer Franco Cano will ideally have the voice of dear mother Rosaria Demartis tell the experience lived on that sad night of May 17th 80 years ago, a sort of narration of someone who witnessed firsthand those terrible events. The memories of Signora Demartis, therefore, will relive in the symphonic poem written with two hands and performed by the musicians of the Banda Dalerci. The appointment is for the evening of Wednesday 17 May in Piazza della Misericordia.
