The celebrations for the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Gian Maria Volonté will end in La Maddalena with the second act of the festival “La Valigia dell'Attore”, scheduled from 6 to 8 December.

The final tribute to one of the most beloved actors in the history of Italian cinema will take place on the anniversary of his death, which occurred on December 6, 1994, closing a year full of events, retrospectives, and meetings in his memory, in Italy and abroad.

The protagonist of the opening night is the documentary “Volonté - The Man of a Thousand Faces”, directed by Francesco Zippel, which through unpublished images and footage, and interviews with personalities of the caliber of Toni Servillo, Pierfrancesco Favino, Valeria Golino, Marco Bellocchio and Margarethe von Trotta, provides a well-rounded portrait of the actor, recounting his challenges, successes and the legacy he has left to great contemporary performers. The evening, introduced by Boris Sollazzo and Fabio Ferzetti, will be attended by the director Francesco Zippel, Angelica Ippolito and Felice Laudadio: appointment at 8:45 pm at the Sala Primo Longobardo.

In the same location, and at the same time, the three-day event will continue with the screening of the film “La mort de Mario Ricci” (1983), by Claude Goretta, which won Volonté the Award for Best Male Performance at the Cannes Film Festival: the film, little distributed at the time, was rediscovered after years and will be screened in its original French version with Italian subtitles. The evening will be enriched by the participation of Mauro Berardi, producer of the famous “Il Caso Moro” with Volonté, Jacopo Onnis, former Rai journalist, and the directors of the “Le Isole del Cinema” circuit (to which “La Valigia dell'Attore” belongs) Marco Navone (“Una notte in Italia”, Tavolara), Sante Maurizi (“Pensieri e parole”, Asinara) and Gianfranco Cabiddu (“Creuza de ma”, Carloforte).

The final day, scheduled at the Mercato Civico in Piazza Garibaldi starting at 10, will begin with a musical tribute by the trio composed of Jacqueline Demuro (vocals), Veronica Satta (vocals) and Piergiulio Manzi (guitar), which will precede a series of literary meetings coordinated by Fabrizio Deriu and dedicated to the latest editorial publications on Gian Maria Volonté. Guests include Ferruccio Marotti, professor emeritus of the University of Rome “La Sapienza” and primary supporter of the ValigiaLab teaching experience in 2010, and Antonio Medici, director of the “Gian Maria Volonté” School of Cinematographic Art, a supporter of ValigiaLab since 2013.

All events are free to enter.
