It will be in two "acts", this year, "The actor's suitcase", now in its 21st edition, the traditional one in July (from 26th to 28th) and the exceptional one in autumn, from 6th to 8th December, which will allow to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Gian Maria Volonté - to whom the event is dedicated - who died in Greece on 6 December 1994, while starring in what was his last film.

This will be a celebratory and vibrant moment in memory of the great actor who passed away. The summer phase of "The actor's suitcase, the actor's work, characters and performers over time", with meetings, debates and film screenings, will take place, as usual, at night, at the suggestive Fortezza dei Colmi, with daytime events at the Ilva warehouses. As usual, actors, directors, set designers and intellectuals are expected.

During the event the “Gian Maria Volonté” prize is awarded, “for artistic excellence”. In the 2023 edition, the “Gian Maria Volonté” award was awarded to Filippo Timi, who received the important recognition from the hands of Giovanna Gravina, artistic director of the event, and to Ficarra and Picone, to whom it was delivered by the actress Donatella Finocchiaro, winner of the award the previous year. It's a shame that this year, and hopefully only in a suspension, there will be no "Valigialab, advanced training workshops on acting techniques", previously held by actors such as Toni Servillo, Paolo Rossi, Pierfrancesco Favino, Sonia Bergamasco, Elio Germano, Fabrizio Gifuni, Michele Riondino, and Donatella Finocchiaro last year, 14th edition.
