«My historical thriller "The procession of ghosts" - informed Gianluca Lioni, professor at the University of Roma Tre on his Facebook page - received recognition in Benevento, perhaps undeserved but of which I am particularly pleased for the high value which it expresses: the book chosen by the jury was translated into Braille and donated to Uici, the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired».

Born in La Maddalena 41 years ago, Lioni has lived in Rome for years. A professional journalist with a degree in Communication Sciences, he was the spokesman for the Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dario Franceschini, and a consultant for Rai Cultura. He has published, with Michele Fina, "The 100 speeches that marked history" (Editori Riuniti, 2014) and "The great speeches that changed history" (Newton Compton, 2017).

"The procession of ghosts - Isola della Maddalena, 1864", published in 2020 by Tre60, tells of trafficking, mysteries, superstitions, with fictional and historical characters as protagonists; of the latter, Garibaldi, Bakuin, Roberts and the parish priest Mamia, a friend of Garibaldi. «A message of accessibility, citizenship and inclusion, which passes through the right to culture», commented Lioni regarding the translation of the book into Braille, «because reading means, for everyone, broadening horizons, feeding the imagination, living many lives ».
