It was first and foremost a celebratory meeting, the one organized yesterday afternoon by the association “Partecipando La Maddalena”, to give due recognition to the photographer Italo Innocenti, who gave testimony of his great passion for photography from which a valued profession arose.

Italo Innocenti, since the late 50s, has documented with his photos, first in black and white, then in color and now with digital, the history of La Maddalena but not only, also that of the Costa Smeralda. And then the countryside and towns of Sardinia, capturing landscapes, characters and customs, not disdaining however, services both on the Continent and abroad.

It started with the bellows camera, with films and then developments in darkrooms (naturally in black and white), then moving on to color which was revolutionary for the time and finally moving on to digital technology. And it is no coincidence that yesterday's meeting, organized by "Partecipando La Maddalena", was entitled: "Photography in the age of smartphones".

On this theme Italo Innocenti met with a young photographer, Nicolò Pais, commenting together on the two different worlds of photography.

"To be a good photographer - Innocenti said - you have to be passionate about photography and courageous " , recounting some episodes in which he even took risks in order to take pictures. During the evening, some other young photographers, both professionals and amateurs, took the floor and shared different experiences with each other. Finally, the connection with Laura Maver was touching, who, together with Gabriele Di Ruscio, who died prematurely, opened a photography school in La Maddalena, remembered with appreciation and nostalgia by some of those present.
