Kimi Antonelli makes history: starting last and triumphing at the Monza GP
With the Mercedes champion, an Italian returns to winning ways after 60 years. Second place for Russell, followed by Verstappen. Leclerc out.

Kimi Antonelli achieved a historic feat. The Italian Mercedes driver, leader of the drivers' championship, won the Italian Grand Prix in Monza after starting from last place. Teammate George Russell finished second.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen finished third on the podium. Behind him were the McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, while Lewis Hamilton finished sixth in the Ferrari, the only one to finish after the accident that took Charles Leclerc out on lap four.
With Antonelli, an Italian driver returns to win the Monza Grand Prix after 60 years. Before Kimi, the feat was achieved by Ludovico Scarfiotti in a Ferrari back in 1966.
“A dream come true,” Antonelli said after the victory. “I couldn’t have done it without my family and my team.”
