Kevin Spacey is the international star of RaiPlay's new comedy show, "Minimarket."

The two-time Oscar-winning actor, who was caught in the #MeToo storm at the peak of his career, fell from grace and was then acquitted in all his trials between 2023 and 2024 , is still struggling to re-enter the world of American cinema and TV series, but is instead highly sought after in Europe and also in Italy (last June he was a guest on Vita in diretta).

Here he is, playing the unpredictable mentor of young Manlio Viganò (Laganà), determined to become the star of a major television show. A ten-episode story with stellar actors and unconventional characters. The first five episodes will debut on RaiPlay on Friday, December 26th, with the second part airing on January 9th.

Manlio Viganò, played by Filippo Laganà, is a young law graduate who shies away from the legal world and dreams of becoming the star of a major television show. He's already written his script and feels ready for his debut, but in reality he spends his days at the convenience store checkout, selling lentils and yogurt. Getting him into trouble is his imaginary friend, Kevin Spacey, an irresistible presence who serves as both his artistic conscience and unpredictable mentor : on the one hand, the experience of someone who has graced the world's most prestigious sets, and on the other, the recklessness of someone who doesn't realize he has an Oscar winner at his side.

This small universe is managed by Nimesh, a Sri Lankan owner, but Manlio's world is enriched by a vast ensemble of characters who contribute to the lively and surreal tone of the series: Paola Tiziana Cruciani as Veronica, Massimo Wertmüller as Massimo, Enzo Paci as Robertino, Rodolfo Laganà (father of the lead actor) as Seneca, Francesco Pannofino, Massimo Ghini, Giorgia Cardinaletti, alongside the singer Alexia. Recounting the family dynamics and its many nuances is Jonis Bashir in the role of Nimesh . And then there's Samadhi, the influencer girlfriend, Lem Teku ; his mother Claudia, Mietta ; his father Alvise, played by Enrico Bertolino ; Sister Lucrezia, Ludovica Bizzaglia , and the world of the minimarket: Francesco Sarmiento (Tito), Rita Pilato (Rita), Claudio Pallottini (Rudi), Martina Gatto (Delia), Giulia Sorrentino (Giulia), Denny Mendez (Denny), Roberta Ammendola (Roberta), and Maurizio Pepe (Igli). The narrator is Stefano De Sando. "Minimarket," a Rai Contenuti Digitali e Transmediali product, is directed by Sergio Colabona.
