The personal events linked to Kevin Spacey's public profile continue to take on increasingly unpredictable consequences. After being acquitted during her trial in London last year on allegations of sexual misconduct against four men, the Hollywood star is making the arduous climb to rehabilitate her image.

In addition to the release of Katherine Haywood's documentary “Kevin Spacey - Behind the Mask” available on Discovery +, which brought the debate back into vogue and sparked several mixed reactions, Spacey was recently interviewed by Pierce Morgan, publicly revealing the financial difficulties due to legal costs in which he is currently involved. Without hiding his emotion, when asked: «What is your current home? - he replied – It's funny that you ask this question. because this week the house I lived in in Baltimore went into foreclosure. My house is being sold at auction, so I have to go back to Baltimore and put my things in storage. The answer to the question is that I'm not sure where I'll live now. But I've been in Baltimore since we started filming House of Cards there. I moved there in 2012. This has been my home since 2016. I can't pay the bills I have to pay."

With the desire to free himself once and for all from this critical phase of his life, the actor expressed his desire to get back on track again. Waiting for him is director Michael Zaiko Hall, who intends to involve him in the protagonist role for his next thriller "Peter Five Eight" . Although aware of the possible risks of media fuss, the director proved adamant in his choice, leveraging the "rare talent" of the star who will be able to give depth to the film. Even though it is a low-budget independent film, the hope is that the good results will manage to attract the attention of Hollywood. Orienting the plot on the events of an alcoholic real estate agent who ends up under the sights of a mysterious man, the director declared that during the writing phases Spacey's name became increasingly recurrent: «The screenplay was written before the involvement of Kevin. I actually had another actor in mind, initially for Peter, but as the script was put together… discussions between the producers started to lean towards who would be the absolute best Peter on the planet. And the discussion quickly turned to Kevin Spacey ."

And continuing, Hall admitted that the choice of Spacey even surpassed the danger of retaliation, making everyone agree that the actor would have been perfect to play the role: «With his comic wickedness and his lyrical quality, we decided to offer the role to Kevin. Naturally this is a controversial choice, if you like. We were very aware of what the choice would entail knowing the scandals Kevin has been involved in, but we knew it would be in the best interest of the film. It would have been much more compelling with Kevin in the role of Peter«. On the scandal that hit Spacey, Hall spoke of a case "blown out of proportion": "When the evidence was presented, which was also shared with us, many rumors and insinuations had been completely blown out of proportion. So we are dealing with a very rare talent that I firmly believe belongs on the big screen. It's a real detriment to the culture to deprive us of Kevin on screen."

As for the experience he had directly with the actor, he continued by saying: «I support the #MeToo movement in cases where real monsters are convicted. But I think it should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. After much thought and discussion with Kevin and his manager, I ultimately felt that he was a man of integrity... and I have since felt that opinion has been confirmed."
