"I was in the ambulance with my leg twisted, the doctors ready for resuscitation... Later I understood that I really risked dying. Of septicemia."
Jovanotti is preparing for the release of his next album, «Il corpo umana vol. 1», for about 50 arena dates with a debut on March 4th and also for a super guest appearance at Sanremo on the evening of February 11th, a year and a half after his serious bike accident in Santo Domingo with a broken femur and collarbone, the first unsuccessful operation, a second hospitalization in Italy and a long rehabilitation.
"In the operating room," he told Corriere della Sera, " I caught a bacterium that complicated everything, it was gnawing away at the bone and that's why my leg was shorter. The doctors at Humanitas discovered it in Milan: in the second operation I lost 4 liters of blood, it was like Vietnam. You think that death only happens to others ."
" I invested everything in my vitality, even a little ostentatious," he continues. "Body language was my language. I literally had to relearn how to walk. You start by crawling: you have to reset your neural system. Then you move on to movements in deep water, then where you touch the ground, then you go back to placing your foot down. The energy is always the same, it branches out in new and different ways and translates into a different intensity. It should have happened sooner or later anyway because age passes. The ultimate test came on the first day of rehearsals for the tour: my muscles hurt from the tension, I was scared... As soon as I started I felt everything starting up again: I'm happy with how I feel on stage ."
