A rough, irreverent and meaningful work focused on the living conditions in prisons. Joe Perrino presents at the Teatro Civico in Sassari “Cantastorie di Vita Mala” a new solo project where he is accompanied by Zuanna Maria Boscani. The appointment is for May 30th at 9 pm, organized by Le Ragazze Terribili.
In the show the two actors activate a direct interaction with the audience through stories that allow to enter into an emotionally positive and reflective spiral involving mind and body. In that story there is the awakening of memory and the simultaneous search for a personal experience, linked to a true story or to a place now disappeared.
The choice of an essential arrangement of the songs (almost pop) is dictated by the desire to communicate in a simple and immediate way themes that still today seem taboo for right-thinking people. The melodies range versatilely between country, blues, popular stornelli and tango, creating a varied but always coherent and never predictable whole. The poetics used belonging to popular culture starts from the symbolism of prison language accompanied by that of the aesthetics of the storyteller from the itinerant mobile theater and arrives up to the circus of the 30s and Italian neorealist cinema.
Joe Perrino plays the role of prisoners and criminals, singing about their dramatic lives full of passion, madness, lost love, betrayal and revenge. A powerful and performing narration that flows on stage, structured as if it were the memory of a journey made by the artist and rocker from Cagliari, who has already dedicated the double collection of “Canzoni di malavita” to prison and its stories of pain and hope.
