"The situation is apocalyptic, I am seeing scenes that are reminiscent of the images of the Second World War".
Joe Bastianich, in the midst of the war in Ukraine , is on the border with Poland as an envoy of the Hyenas: "Families on the border between Ukraine and Poland are divided, because Ukrainian men between 18 and 60 years cannot leave the country, they are all called into service. It takes women, children and the elderly 30 hours to cross the border and then walk in the woods, because in Poland they don't know where to go. Either there is someone waiting for them, and I have seen cars from all over Europe recover refugees who have contacts abroad, or it is chaos. There are no places to sleep, there are no fields, there is no food, water, blankets, diapers. Everything is needed: I'm here with the Hyenas troupe but these days are turning from journalistic reportage into a humanitarian mission ".
The entrepreneur is seeing and trying to help as many refugees as he can: “With American and Italian passports there is less queue, so we in the troupe are bringing basic necessities to the families. But everything is starting to run out: I must say that the Polish civilians living here help a lot. They welcome refugees and make what they have available. The Polish police also easily let those who can help out. But we are talking about thousands of people pressing on the border, we need a humanitarian organization ".
