Cagliari celebrates the well-deserved promotion to Serie A after only one year in the hell of the cadetteria and prepares the market in view of the start of the championship, scheduled for August 20th.

The atmosphere was quite different exactly 12 months ago, when – with the disappointment for the relegation still burning – the club was grappling with the re-foundation.

Many players had said goodbye, even after years of rossoblù militancy. A season later, what happened to them? How did their career continue away from Sardinia?

Here is the balance, with some statistics, player by player.

Joao Pedro – The Italian-Brazilian striker, after the debacle of the 2021-2022 season, decided to seek his fortune in Turkey, at Fenerbahçe. For him, between injuries and benches, 21 appearances between the championship and the cup, with only 4 goals scored and an assist put on the scoresheet, for a total of just over a thousand minutes played.

Keita Baldè – The striker of Senegalese origin concluded his first season in Russia, with the Spartak Moscow shirt, with 12 appearances in the league and 4 in the cup, with a total of 4 goals signed and one assist served.

Giovanni Simeone – Extraordinary season for Cholito, who, despite starting behind in the attacking hierarchies of Scudetto-winning Napoli, managed to collect 25 appearances and score 4 goals in the league, doing even better in the Champions League (7 tokens, 4 goals) and in the Italian Cup (one game played, one goal). In the "cursed season" he did the preparation, however, only playing the first match against Spezia and then moving to Verona.

Raoul Bellanova – The young winger born in 2000, who spent the season at Inter after Cagliari, also played little (18 appearances, almost always as a substitute), but he indulged in the whim of collecting three tokens in the Champions League. Now the new adventure in Turin.

Marin and Grassi – Satisfactory season for Razvan Marin at Empoli: 33 appearances, 2 goals, 4 assists and salvation conquered in a calm manner. Alberto Grassi is also in the Tuscan team: no goals in the last season, but 25 appearances collected.

Walukiewicz, Lykogiannis, Lovato – Sebastian Walukiewicz also ended up at Empoli after relegation: 11 appearances this season. For Charalampos Lykogiannis, who migrated to Bologna, the tokens in the last year were instead 21, with the Greek who also managed to score twice. Instead, there were 17 appearances for Matteo Lovato in Salernitana.

Alessio Cragno – For the Tuscan goalkeeper the last season in Cagliari was disappointing due to relegation and equally disappointing due to the limited space he found in the new adventure in Monza. In the last season, the former rossoblù full-back only took to the field 4 times, for a total of less than 400 minutes played.

Gaston Pereiro – The Uruguayan midfielder returned to his home country after Cagliari's relegation to Club Nacional. For him 23 appearances and three goals between Primera Division, Intermediate Tournament and Libertadores.

Diego Godin – Back to South America also for Diego Godin, who at the age of 37 has lined up 18 appearances, for a total of over 1,500 minutes played, in the Argentine championship, with the Velèz Sarsfield shirt.

Kevin Strootman – Return to Genoa for the Dutch midfielder. In the last B championship he made 30 appearances and scored two goals.

Alberto Cerri – Season in Serie B also for the Emilian striker. With Como 34 appearances, 9 goals scored and three assists served to his teammates.

Paolo Faragò – The Calabrian full-back also ended up in Como: for him 17 appearances and 664 minutes played in total in the last cadetteria season.

Alessandro Tripaldelli – For the full-back from Campania, under Spal, 22 appearances and 2 goals in the Serie B championship that has just ended.

Andrea Carboni – Season divided between Monza (4 appearances) and Venice for the Sardinian defender. The experience in Veneto, in Serie B, was decidedly better: 16 appearances, three goals and one assist.

Damir Ceter – The Colombian striker ended up in Bari, defeated by Cagliari in the very final playoff. For him 14 appearances and one assist.
