Jean-Claude Lesuisse, the Franco-Belgian architect who helped design the Costa Smeralda, has passed away. A student and collaborator of architect Savin Couelle, who designed the prestigious villas nestled among the granite rocks of Gallura, Lesuisse died late yesterday evening at the age of 78 at the San Francesco Hospital in Nuoro.

Renowned for his ability to fuse art and nature, Lesuisse designed the residential homes in the Pevero Park, those overlooking Cala di Volpe, the Piazza del Principe complex in the heart of Porto Cervo, the hotel and village of Poltu Quadu, and the transformation, respecting the landscape and tradition, of many of the stazzi in Gallura, where he chose to live.
