The return of Tullio De Piscopo, an absolute legend of Italian and international music, was a resounding success at Lo Quarter. Last Friday, audiences enjoyed his new show, "I Colori della Musica," an emotional journey through jazz, pop, blues, and tributes to friends and artistic partners, beginning with the unforgettable Pino Daniele. The setlist also included classics such as "Namina ," "Pummarola Blues ," "Andamento Lento," and the iconic rendition of "Libertango ," the fruit of his historic collaboration with Piazzolla. A world-class drummer and percussionist, Tullio has collaborated with giants such as Astor Piazzolla, Quincy Jones, Chet Baker, Gerry Mulligan, Mina, Pino Daniele, Fabrizio De André, and Franco Battiato, bringing his Mediterranean sound to the most prestigious venues.
Not just jazz, but also experimentation, avant-garde, and a long list of hits that marked the history of Italo Disco and even heralded the era of Italian rap. The sold-out concert was part of the rich lineup of the eighth edition of the JazzAlguer festival, promoted by Bayou Club Events with the support of the Region of Sardinia, the Municipality of Alghero, and other cultural institutions. It was another musical highlight, following Amii Steward's extraordinary performance at the Ivan Graziani Amphitheater.
Jazz Alguer continues its program until late October. On August 29th, Francesco Tricarico will perform "Buonasera Io sono Tricarico" at Lo Quarter, at 9:30 pm.
