The week dedicated to the Autonomous Region of Sardinia has opened its doors in the Italian pavilion at the Expo in Osaka, Japan. Accompanied by the notes of traditional Sardinian instruments, launeddas and accordion of the Duo Fanta Folk, Ambassador Mario Vattani and the Councilor for Tourism, Crafts and Commerce, Franco Cuccureddu , cut the ribbon to officially open the event that aims to showcase the Island, its beauties and its traditions in the Land of the Rising Sun.
"In a week we will try to tell with our artisans, the thematic focuses, the artists' performances, the Sardinia that preserves traditions, but at the same time looks to the future and modernity" , said the councilor Cuccureddu. Adding: "For June 27th the press conference is scheduled to present Sardinia and in particular our tourist offer, where, together with the sea and the beaches, certified as the most beautiful in the world, other tourist products will be illustrated, usable in all seasons. A particular focus - concludes Cuccureddu - will be dedicated to the widespread hotel and the Blue Zones, the geographical areas in which there is a greater incidence of centenarians . Sardinia is one of the five Blue Zones together with Okinawa, an island that we will visit in the next few days precisely to stipulate a collaboration agreement".
Among the first to visit the Sardinia exhibition was the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. , welcomed by Franco Cuccureddu, who particularly appreciated the sound stones of Pinuccio Sciola, played for the occasion by the artist's children: Maria, Chiara and Tommaso.
The Italian pavilion is among the most popular at the Expo: to the long waits (sometimes up to six hours) to get in, now is added the sultry heat of the Japanese summer, which however does not discourage visitors, eager to admire the excellence of the Bel Paese and, this week, to discover the peculiarities of Sardinia.
