Neapolitan music legend James Senese was rushed to Naples' Antonio Cardarelli Hospital for pneumonia.

Gaetano Senese, 80, is currently in intensive care in serious condition . Until recently, his family says, he was doing well. Then the infection set in, worsened by other pre-existing and age-related conditions.

Son of an African-American soldier from North Carolina and a Neapolitan girl, a singer and saxophonist with an unmistakable style that combines jazz, soul, fusion, funk and rock , Senese with the group Napoli Centrale, founded in the 70s, and the great Pino Daniele, has written the history of Naples, which anxiously awaits his return to the scene.
