James Michael Tyler, the Gunther of the TV series "Friends", is dead
The actor was 59, diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018
James Michael Tyler, an actor known for playing the character of Gunther, the manager of the Central Perk café from the TV series “Friends” for ten years, has died at the age of 59.
"The world knew him as Gunther but to those who loved him he was an actor, a musician and a husband," said his agent Toni Benson.
The American interpreter died at his home in Los Angeles from prostate cancer he was diagnosed with in 2018.
The disease had prevented Tyler from participating in the latest reunion of the protagonists of the series , broadcast on May 27 in the United States by Hbo.
In 1994 he was cast for this role because he was the only one who knew how to use the coffee machine, having worked as a barman before becoming an actor.
